Inspiration is everywhere! When I saw this ad from a home improvement retailer, I knew I had to make something similar using digital scrapbooking supplies.
Mirjam's kits are just perfect for this, because they come with a plethora of elements - and I'm always looking for excuses to use as many as possible! My first step was to decide on the word to use and find a bold font (I used Verdana).
Then I arranged various elements onto the letters and added shadows. When I was ready, I simply deleted the placeholders.
What do you think? Feel free to share your creation at the PRD gallery

Every year I love seeing the Starbucks holiday cup designs! I've included them in my December albums and used them as inspiration in scrapbooking. This year, I made it to Starbucks on their "free cup" day to get a holiday drink and challenged myself to create a layout scraplifting the design on the cup I received. Thankfully, it was a design that worked great for scraplifting!
I decided to also stick with same red, green and white colors on my layout as on the holiday cup. The recently released Oh What Fun Collection was absolutely perfect for this!!
I started my layout by placing five rectangular strips (for clipping papers) on a red background in the same way the strips are placed on the cup.
I then clipped green papers to these strips and added a photo.
Next, I added used alphas to spell out "Starbucks" between the first two paper strips and Christmas tree stamps between the last two paper strips to mimic the cup design.
Lastly, I added elements, journaling and alphas for the date to finish out the layout. Here's the completed layout, scraplifting the design from this year's Starbucks holiday cup:
This was a really fun challenge!! I think it will become a yearly challenge for myself to scraplift the holiday cups.

I just posted my first blog post. I'm doing one post a month and didn't know how it would best fit in the schedule, so I put it here and you can place it wherever it fits best. Let me know if the formatting is off on anything and I'll be happy to fix that.

Monica, I love your page. Great idea to use a Starbucks cup as inspo.
Mirjam, maybe you want to post it at any day you like in December seeing that the date for the post is already over.
Monica and Anne, you can see the dates when the post is due each month in the separate schedule posts. You just have to figure out among yourselves who does which month. If you want to let me know I will update the schedules accordingly so we can always refer back to them.

I apologize for missing that date. I think Anne wasn't able to continue with the blog team, so it will be just me for right now, unless Mirjam finds someone else to help out. If you could update the schedules with my name, that would be helpful for the future so I can plan accordingly.

This month, I created a mixed media frame.
I recycled a cardboard frame received in a package. When I found it in the package, I knew I was going to make a decorated frame, so I put it aside and kept it until today.
For this frame, I used scraps of paper from my previous creations. I keep everything because I know that it can always be useful ;)
Portrait : Flaws and all|elements, yellow paper : Loves live here|papers , blue paper : Tadah|papers, butterfly : Flaws and all|elements, black and white tag : Flaws and all|elements, pink ticket : Flaws and all|elements, pink flowers : March Madness | Add-On Dividers, drawing triangles: Homebody|elements
I painted the background of the cardboard with white acrylic paint. I used acrylic beacause it creates a plastic layer on the cardboard and prevents it from absorbing too quickly the watercolor I will use after.
I used a watercolor pencil that I dipped in water and then shook over the frame to create the color spots.
Then I glued with acrylic paint several pieces of papers :
The next step is to blur the pieces of paper so that they blend into the background of the page. So I covered the papers with white acrylic paint.
Then I removed part of the paint with a paper towel.
I continued my background decoration by adding printed elements :
I added white paint on the edges of the portrait to blur the cut. Then I added color, again in watercolor pencil, both on the portrait and on the background. The contours faded under the effect of the watercolor absorbed by the paper.
To finish, I addes some clusters of elements :
My mixed media frame is done :
