Subject: TUTORIAL - Due 9-1-22. for 09-6-22. - ***READY*** Mon Aug 22, 2022 1:11 am
Hello scrappers! CT member Cheryl here to bring you another tutorial. We've had some requests to do a tutorial on "LEADING", so I'm going to talk about that today. Leading (it's pronounced "LEDDING") is simply the amount of space between the rows of type. It harkens back to the "old days" when individual letters were set by hand. Between each row of letters, there were strips of leading ("ledding") and when put in the printing press, it controlled the amount of space between the rows and made the type easier to read. The larger the "leading", the further apart the rows of type would be.
First of all, let me show you where the leading control is in Photoshop Elements, which I'm using. When you click on the type tool, a dialogue box opens, and the leading control is just below the font size. My leading is set to "Auto" and I'll explain more about that as we go along.
Let's see if my first example helps clear this leading thing up. I just typed some random words - i.e. the months of the year, showing the same font size, with two different leading sizes. You can easily see how much further apart the lines are, with the higher leading size.
As I mentioned above, "leading" is normally set to "auto". So, you'll have to change your leading size accordingly. It's often a trial-and-error thing. My "auto" is set to 24, but yours might be different.
I just typed up a little something on this card to show you how leading changes the look of your type. I used font size 18 and leading size 18.

CONTINUED
It looks too "cramped", so lets play with the leading.
In this example, I kept the font size at 18, but increased the leading size to 24. It's looking better.
I still want to experiment a little, so keeping the same font size (18), I increased the leading size to 30. It's looking pretty good.
I think I like the last example, but it's a matter of taste. You can also adjust the leading if you want to type right on a layout.
Well, that's it for me this time and if you didn't know what leading was before, I hope you'll try it out soon. Don't forget - if you want anything special in one of our future posts, just pop into Sweet Shoppe Designs and let us know, in the "Ask The Pink Ladies Forum: https://www.sweetshoppecommunity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95436

You're so welcome, Mir.
@Riki I tried to move this, but it didn't work. I'm not going to mess with it, since this is the last tutorial. Sorry for the contusion. I'll change it on my next post.

Thanks, Mir! I tried to move it and half of it moved and the other half didn't. I decided to leave well enough along.
Feel free to change the wording to whatever you think is pertinent considering this will be the last tutorial. I wasn't sure what to write about that (if anything).

Rikki and Mir, I'm not sure where to put this, but we have a new request in Ask The Pink Ladies at SSD.
Amber asked: "Do you have a PSE tutorial that teaches how to make your own tweaked drop shadows so the paper or photo looks more lifted/curled on one side? I used to know how in an ancient version of PS, but now I use PSE 2019 and can't figure it out. Thanks!"
I know we're not doing tutorials per se, but this would be a good topic to cover in one of our posts. I don't know how to do what she's asking, I use styles now - but I'll bet somebody (Esther?) does. I wanted to get it on here for future scheduling.

We could definitely post this on socials like I did with your leading post Cheryl. As long as we keep it to 8 photos max. Do you think that would be doable Cheryl?

I definitely think it would be doable, Mir! 8 photos should cover it, I would think. When it goes on IG, we can let Amber know at SSD. I was excited to see that somebody posted in there!

I am about to re-write the schedule for the next few months, i.e. the rest of the year.
As the October tut by Christa is already done I have scheduled you, Cheryl, for the tutorial with the drop shadows. Is that ok with you?

Butterflies in my stomach kit inspires me an art journal page in my junk journal.
I created a cluster on photoshop with paper and WA. Then I printed it :
I cut a piece in the same paper to glue it on the second page, to cover the background :
Then I cut the big buttefly on one of journaling card of the kit.
I love this big buterfly. It's perfect for Art journal. I added some touch of watercolor to colorize the buterfly and the background paper. I choose pink and green to be coherent with the kit colors :
I added some splatters on the left page
I added a WA on the butterfly and an half of a tag:
The right age is done
To complete the left page, I added a pink element and a yellow flower :
