Each year, I created my own Advent calendar for my children.
One year I created origami boxes with Pink Reptiles Designs' papers :
http://pinkreptiledesigns.blogspot.fr/2014/11/counting-down-to-christmas-with-cutest.htmlThis year, my daughter asked me an Advent calendar in christmas tree shape
Good idea !
I decided to play the salvage card. I used cardstock from cardboard boxes and toilets rolls to create the christmas tree.
25 half-toilet rolls to be precise, to create hiding places, and cardstock pieces to build a 3D Christmas tree and hide toilet rolls
I cut christmas tree shape in cardstock. I cut tapizium for leaves and a rectangle for trunk
Each piece of cardstock is cut in twice
I drew circles in one of two piece. I used one toilet roll to draw the first circle, I cut it, and I used it like pattern to draw others
Then I cut circle with a cutter :
My Advent calendar is going to be built like this :
Before build the Christmas tree, it needed paint !
My children helped me to paint in green the pieces of cardstock :
After drying, I had a beautiful green cardstock. I didn't paint the trunk, I found that kraft color was perfect for a trunk
Now, the building of the christmas tree.
I began by the top of the Christmas tree
I used glue gun to glue each toilet roll to the cardstock with holls
And I glued the other cardstock :
For the second part I used the same process.
I put on the cardstock the half of toilet roll. Then I glued it with my glue gun :
The others leaves have several holls. It will be difficult to access to the back of cardstock to attach paper circles.
With a punch, I cut paper circles in several Pink Reptile Designs' papers. I used forget me not, Love the life you live, More than words, Sea of love, Tadah)
And I attached them with fasterners :
You understand that it easier to attach paper circles to hide holl before to glue the second cardstock piece.
I did the same process for each part of my tree :
I built the Christmas tree in lguing each part together with glue gun, to obtain a 3D Christmas tree :
To finish, I glued, on each paper circle, a day. I used Countdown to Christmas product :
MY Advent calendar is finished !
The last step is to add confectionnaries and gifts in hiding place. It's a surprise !
